About

What is Milbemax?

Milbemax is a broad-spectrum worming tablet manufactured by Elanco containing two active ingredients: milbemycin oxime (which kills roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and prevents heartworm) and praziquantel (which kills all major species of tapeworm).

This combination makes Milbemax one of the most comprehensive single-tablet wormers available. It covers virtually all intestinal worms that affect UK dogs and cats in a single palatable tablet. The beef-flavoured formulation is well accepted by most pets.

Milbemax is available in four formulations: small dog/puppy, large dog, small cat/kitten, and large cat. It is classified as NFA-VPS in the UK, meaning you do not need a prescription to buy it. Online pet medicine retailers can sell it after a brief health questionnaire, making it convenient and affordable to buy.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, all major tapeworms, and prevents heartworm. One of the most comprehensive single-tablet wormers.

£8-£18 for 2 tablets at the vet, £5-£12 online. No prescription needed (NFA-VPS).

No. Milbemax is NFA-VPS and can be bought online without a prescription after a health questionnaire.

Adults: every 3 months. Puppies/kittens: every 2 weeks until 12 weeks, monthly until 6 months, then quarterly.

Both are excellent. Milbemax also prevents heartworm. Drontal covers a slightly wider range of tapeworms. For UK pets they are largely interchangeable.
